Project Description:
This project is a lovingly restored four-bedroom 1905 bungalow. The project brief was to
- Better utilization of the floor area especially kitchen and bathroom
- Take the bungalow back in Victorian time while still keeping it modern
Both the objectives were met.
The changes made span from moving the entrance to the house which along with the wide hallway provides visual sense of lots of space. Brand new kitchen with custom-made cabinets, butler sink and a black granite top and all the mod cons provide a homely space for culinary creativity. Brand new 1.5 bathrooms and a walk-in closet maximizes the use of floor area. Brand new floor to wall bi fold doors and a new window seat further enhance the feeling of space within the house.
In terms of the restoration, new dado rails were installed in the living area and hallway and architraves around all internal doors. A bold but classic wallpaper runs in this area to bring out the character of the house. Each room has a unique feature wall yet all of it ties together seamlessly. Extensive use of chandeliers with warm lights bring both a feeling of warmth and timelessness into the house. The bathroom also have unique tiles sourced from Italy and Turkey.
